History

PDRI’s long history since its founding in 1967 includes successfully designing and coordinating both small and large-scale projects, including large-scale consortium research and development projects extending over multiple years and involving thousands of people, dozens of companies, and hundreds of organizational units. Milestones:

1967 - Marvin Dunnette, Ph.D., founds Personnel Decisions, Inc., a global leader in HR consulting. Later, in 1975, Dr. Dunnette founds PDRI, a not-for-profit applied research group independent of PDI. PDRI conducts large military research projects and works for industry consortia, such as the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) and the Life Office Management Association (LOMA).

1980’s - PDRI plays a major role in Project A, the Army research project studying all military uniformed roles and the prediction of performance. In 1988, PDRI converts to a for-profit enterprise.

1990’s - PDRI plays a major role in the development of O*NET, the online resource describing the entire US job market and labor force. In 1994, PDI acquires PDRI to operate as a wholly-owned research subsidiary, continuing government and private sector work with firms such as IBM, Microsoft, Boeing, Bell Atlantic, NYNEX, PacBell, GTE, United Airlines, Medtronic, American Express, and Kelly Services.

1999 - PDRI is awarded a place on the U.S. General Services Administration Federal Supply Multiple Award Schedule for Management, Organizational, and Business Improvement Services (MOBIS).

2002 - PDRI is acquired by ePredix. PDRI continues to conduct major research projects for the US government including, the creation of the Navy computer adaptive personality test, US Postal Service entry job selection battery, leader identification and development programs for NASA, DEA, and various agencies of the US Intelligence Community. PDRI designs performance standards for the US federal government’s pay-for-performance reform.
