Airport Surface Detection Equipment - Model X (ASDE-X) is a ground radar system that shows air traffic controllers the position of aircraft on runways and taxiways. ASDE-X is being installed at many airports that previously did not have any ground radar system. PDRI (formerly PTI) was tasked with developing training that shows controllers how to interpret the information on the ASDE-X display and how to adjust the display settings according to individual preferences. The computer-based training (CBT) that PDRI developed is part of a blended learning solution that includes instructor-led training and hands-on practice on the actual system, using a performance checklist.
